The man behind the name…
Dapper Q’s Barbershop was founded with one clear priority: putting God first. For more than 20 years, Rogelio “Roger Q” Ferrer worked as a residential and commercial painter in California. The work was steady but demanding, often requiring long hours, travel to different cities, and time away from his family. While painting paid the bills, it left little room for his deeper calling. His faith and his desire to serve God with everything he did.
When barbering was first suggested to him, it sparked a new perspective. Here was a career that could provide flexibility, stability, and a chance to be more present with his family, while also creating space to live out his true purpose. More than just cutting hair, barbering became a way for him to connect with people daily, share the gospel, and use his chair as a place of ministry. Roger’s love for people and his gift for conversation naturally made the barbershop more than just a business, it became a space where clients could feel welcomed, encouraged, and cared for.
And in God’s timing, the doors for Dapper Q’s opened here in Longmont. What once felt far off became reality as God truly moved mountains to make this shop possible. This wasn’t just about starting a business, but about building something lasting. A place where faith, family, and community could come together.
The name Dapper Q’s ties back to both family and a story from Roger’s painting days. While working on a job, his boss once asked his name. Roger replied “Rogelio,” but since the boss couldn’t roll his R’s, he asked for his last name. “Ferrer,” Roger answered but again, the double R was too tricky. Finally, the boss asked if he had another name, something simpler. Roger mentioned his mother’s last name, Quiroz, and said, “You can call me Q.” From then on, the boss began calling him “Roger Q,” a nickname that stuck with him throughout his painting career and has carried into this new chapter as a barber.
As time passed, his daughter Mariana also stepped into the craft of barbering, sharing in the same vision of combining skill with service. Now, father and daughter work side by side with the same mission. To honor God, uplift people, and build something that reflects the values that matter most to them.
At Dapper Q’s, every cut is more than just a haircut. It’s a chance to connect, to serve, and to let faith and family shine through.
